The Lancaster Native Plant Alliance is a committee of community-based conservation leaders who promote the use of native plants in all landscape settings through collaboration, education, and advocacy. It also serves as a chapter of the Pennsylvania Native Plant Society for the Lancaster area.

The Alliance aspires to:
  • Provide a collection of educational resources to property owners, municipalities, and developers to promote the benefits and uses of native plant species and the impact of invasive species.
  • Provide a directory of certified landscape designers, installers, and managers to utilize native plant species in their practice.
  • Develop a directory of certifications made available for landscape designers, installers, and managers who are seeking continuing education in the use of native plant species.
  • Develop an approved list of nurseries, seed providers, and native plant sales/events who provide native plant species.
  • Create model native plant ordinances for municipal governance implementation.

Wildlife Habitat - Make the Switch
Lancaster County is the first National Wildlife Federation certified county in Pennsylvania with over 700 certified native plant habitats and counting. Increased demand for native plants presents the need for more insecticide free native nurseries and growers.
